Miami homeless man, Ronald Poppo, who face was eaten by a drug induced man, seems to be recovering surprisingly well. He was photographed today walking with assistance of hospital staff at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

“He had wounds involving the forehead, both eyes, and the nose, and the right cheek,”
said plastic surgeon, Dr. Wrood M Kassira.

“I am very pleased to say that Mr. Poppo is doing very well today. . . He is eating, he’s walking around with physical therapy, he’s talking with us, he’s had quite a bit of surgery already by doctor Kasira here to my right, and there’s still quite a bit more to go.”

Poppo, unbelievably, remains in good humor, asking doctors about the NBA Finals and joking around with them.

“. . . It’s amazing. He’s an extremely charming man. When you talk to him, he’s extremely upbeat. He’s very pleasant. He hasn’t said one thing negative to me,”
said the Doc.

Poppo lost his left eye in the attack, and the right eye suffered severe damage. He may never regain his sight, but the eye was covered with a protective flap of skin so that doctors can attempt to restore some of his vision. Other less severe wounds were discovered by doctors from which he is expected to make a full recovery, including a brain injury and two puncture wounds.

As for the man who did this to Poppo, he was shot and killed by police on scene.
