Gucci Mane's artist has been shot dead but sources say he may not have been the guy they wanted!

Earlier today word got out that Gucci Mane's Brick Squad Member, Slim Dunkin aka
Mario Hamilton, was shot and killed Friday at an Atlanta music studio allegedly getting ready to film another scene for Gucci Mane and V-Nasty's video shoot for their new song, "Push Ups."

One insider on set Tweeted,

"Damn jus get to the second scene video OVA! #MANDOWN! Smh"

"Man on dis video shoot n my dude slim dunkin gets SHOT! Rgt on fucking SET! Dis shit just got REALLY REAL! Am I n DET or ATL"

As reports are still coming in, some unconfirmed sources are claiming that Slim was shot in the stomach but Police are said to have confirmed he was shot in the chest. According to Slim's attorney, the raper was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was then pronounced dead.

Police say there was an altercation that most likely lead to the shooting...

"Before the video shoot took place, it appears the victim and suspect got involved in a verbal altercation. We don't know what that altercation was about."

"The suspect produced a weapon, discharged that handgun one time, striking the victim in the chest"

Police say they have not been able to identify the shooter...there were about 13 to 20 people were in the small office-type building at the time of the shooting.... but they were in different places.

"We've questioned a number of witnesses inside the recording studio at this time."

The handgun that was used in the murder hasn't been found yet either, according to the police...

"Right now we're just trying to....identify who may have seen what, really just trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together....It seems everybody witnessed something very different. We're just trying to go back and make sense of everything."

It was not too long ago... when the newest member Brick Squad (at the time)... Waka Flocka Flame was getting shot at too. So much so he was fearing for his life and has even said he would rather work at McDonalds than stay rapping.

So who is after the Brick Squad team? Some sources say...it's not the team their after...it's Gucci Mane himself.

This all comes just hours before Gucci Mane is set to celebrate his homecoming from jail at an Atlanta nightspot.

Slim Dunkin has appeared on a number of songs with Waka like “F--k the Club Up,” “Bang” and “Karma” all from Flocka’s 2010 debut Flockavelli.

He not only shared a label with Waka Flocka, but the two were also reportedly best friends and even have a mixtape together. Check out the trailer to the mixtape and some tracks below:

UPDATES: Sources say later that night Gucci Mane along with rapper Yo Gotti, Sean Garret, V Nasty, Zaytoven Beatz, Gorilla Zoe and more were all at Club ESSO in Atlanta.

Story still developing....

Dec. 17 - Waka Flocka broke silence via his Twitter page and he sounds devastated...

WISH IT WAS ME ... MY FUCKING RIGHT HAND IS GONE

“Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”

UPDATE: Reports say Waka Flocka and Gucci Mane are paying for most of Slim Dunkin's funeral costs and they have made to sure to make it as elaborate as possible.
