Billboard magazine has Taylor Swift and Kanye West as Top Female Artist and Top Male Artist of the Year respectively. However, Swift was named the Top Artist of 2009.The two hit headlines after West grabbed the microphone from Swift while she was delivering her acceptance speech for an award she won at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards so that he can declare that Beyonce Knowles deserved the trophy more than the country singer. Beyonce came in second in the female artist category.
Lady Gaga was named Third Top Artist of the Year.
