CHICAGO ----- A Harpo spokeswoman said Thursday that Oprah Winfrey will announce her 64th and latest selection for Oprah's Book Club. This will be during the 1st week of the season, which is set to be the 25th and final season of "The Oprah Winfrey Show".
Winfrey will announce her book club selection on Sept. 17th, during a live episode, that date has significance to Oprah's Book Club. That is 14 years to the day of the announcement of her first selection ----- Jacquelyn Mitchard's "The Deep End of the Ocean" ----- on Sept. 17, 1996. Oprah Winfrey's influence was shown when millions rushed to follow her on twitter when her 1st tweet was announced on the show, and this book club selection will no doubt be a boost to the Author selected. The last selection was author Uwem Akpan's short story collection "Say You're One Of Them." This may be the last selection being as this is the final season, that is not known at this time. The final season premieres Sept. 13.
