According to the Daily Mail, Mr. He ate a lot of Tofu and drank hardly any water, which his doctor says managed to create over 420 stones in his kidneys.
While some may think the meat substitute is a healthy alternative to meat, we learn that may not be the case. The soy product is said to be the cause of kidney stones, along with a lack of water.
The man's doctor, Dr Wei, said that bean-based products, and particularly the tofu sold locally in Dongyang, eastern China, often have a high level of calcium and this can easily lead to kidney stones through excessive consumption.
'At the end of the operation I realized my arms and legs were numb. The plate used to collect the stones had at least 420 of them of varying sizes and colored green and yellow.
'These didn't include the tiny rice sized stones that were taken out using specialist suction equipment and these numbered over 100.'
So lesson here? Don't eat tons of Tofu, especially without any water.
