This took an interesting turn!

Workers got a sticky surprise in a Seattle K-Mart when 10 pounds of Marijuana ended up at the store by accident... as for the shoppers, they didn't exactly get to try it out either.

Police say the pot wound up at the KMart store after being shipped from Los Angeles (where marijuana is legal in some circumstances, under state but not federal law) to Philadelphia (where it is not legal under both state and federal law.)

The 10-pound shipment that was packed in garbage bags, foam peanuts and cleaning-fluid-soaked pages from a Korean newspaper was taken by police as evidence, police said.

But whoever shipped the dope listed a return address of the KMart in Seattle, which is how the store got a ganja shipment. Police spokesman Jonah Spagenthal-Lee said:
“Delivery information on the package indicates it was originally shipped from Los Angeles to a Philadelphia address, but never made it to its intended destination in Philly … Whoever sent the package listed the address of the Seattle Kmart on the return label, for some reason.”

Seattle police placed the pot into evidence.

The package was said to have been sent by UPS. A company spokesman said Thursday afternoon they had not been contacted by Seattle police and weren't sure it was a UPS package, though their security team would be in touch with officers if it was. Police did not give additional information about the package.

Had the shippers waited just a few weeks longer, the delivery might have been returned to sender. The Kmart store in North Seattle where it was delivered – a fixture at 13200 Aurora Ave. N. since the 1970s – is scheduled to close Sunday for good.
