'Tis the season for giving!

This week we seen that even at a time when some peoples hearts are in despair in NYC and we are bombarded with bad news, it is in the human spirit and random acts of kindness that define who we really are.

The photo above went viral from a tourist who witnessed New York City Police Department officer DePrimo buying a homeless man, who was cold with blistering feet, a new pair of boots at a local store.

“To look down at this gentleman’s feet and see that he had no socks.  And when he told me he never had a pair of shoes. …My heart went out to him.”

The officer later said.
The photo passed over 530,000 “likes” on Facebook and turned Officer DePrimo into an Internet hero.
DePrimo said he did not know the tourist had taken the picture or that it would be posted online.

“I had no clue anybody was there,”

DePrimo said, recalling the moment captured in the viral snapshot.

“It was cold. I didn’t want him doing it himself so I just knelt down. I just helped him put on his socks and shoes.”
We are hoping each one of us can also do at least one random act of kindness this holiday and keep the spirit going. :)
