The chance of winning the jackpot is 1 in 175 million. The largest jackpot in Powerball history was drawn Nov. 28, 2012 for a $587.5 million annuity or a $384.7 cash value.
Powerball tickets are $2 each and the first five numbers are drawn from 59 white balls and the Powerball is drawn from 35 red balls.
Players may select their own numbers or opt for computer-selected quick picks. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls and the red ball.
There are eight other ways to win prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000.
Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states.
